Availability

VoiceSniffer is in development and is not on sale yet. There is no public download. It launches first on BuiltByBit; release news goes out in the Sniffer Studio Discord. These pages describe the build as it exists today so that setup is not a surprise on launch day.

Nothing on this page is a download link, because there is nothing to download yet. It is the sequence you will follow when there is.

First start

  1. Drop the VoiceSniffer jar into plugins/, next to Simple Voice Chat.
  2. Start the server once. VoiceSniffer writes plugins/VoiceSniffer/config.yml and then stops with a licence notice. That is expected — there is no key in the file yet. Voice chat itself is unaffected.
  3. Choose the entitlement for your engine:
    • Cloud: keep the processor token from your subscription; no licence key is needed.
    • Self-host or embedded: put your licence key in the file, or generate the file in the web panel:
      license:
        key: 'YOUR-LICENCE-KEY'
  4. Choose where transcription runs. The shipped file starts at engine.mode: none, which means capture is off; pick sidecar or embedded per engine modes.
  5. Restart the server and run /vs status. It reports the engine, the processor and the licence state.

Verify it is live

  • /vs status shows the engine ready and capture enabled.
  • Startup log lines name the engine mode and whether the plugin is running fail-open or fail-closed.
  • Players joining see the disclosure from consent.message before any audio is analysed.

If any of those is missing, start at troubleshooting.

Changing settings later

Most settings are read at startup. The embedded tier, its language list, its profile and its model directory are startup-only, so a full server restart is required after changing them — a plugin reload is not enough.
