Can I buy it yet?
No. VoiceSniffer is in development. It launches first on BuiltByBit, and release news goes out in the Sniffer Studio Discord. There is no public download and no beta sign-up form pretending to be one.
Does it record my players?
No. Audio is analysed in memory and never written to disk. There is no always-on recording in any mode. An utterance goes to the processor you configured for transcription and nowhere else — and if you self-host that processor, it never leaves your infrastructure. What survives a flag is text: player, severity, transcript.
Can a player refuse?
Yes, and what that means is your choice. By default refusing turns that player's voice chat off — they keep playing and keep text chat. The other mode lets them talk unmoderated, which on a public server is a loophole rather than a feature. See opting out.
What if your service goes down?
Voice chat keeps working, unmoderated. That is the default and it is deliberate. If you would rather everyone be muted until moderation returns, one setting does that — see when moderation is down.
Which languages?
English and Czech at launch, with English as the baseline. Auto-detect evaluates every installed pack; on a cloud plan it narrows itself to the packs you are licensed for.
Will it lag my server?
Transcription is the expensive part, and you decide where it happens. In sidecar mode it runs in a separate process — on the same host or another box — so it cannot compete with the game loop. In embedded mode it runs in your server JVM with a thread budget of 1, 2 or 4 threads and inference is always asynchronous. Capture itself is cheap: voice activity detection on short clips.
Does it work with other voice mods?
No. Simple Voice Chat only — the plugin depends on it.
Does it need a proxy plugin?
No. VoiceSniffer installs on the Paper server. Voice routing on a network is Simple Voice Chat's own job.
Cloud or self-host?
Self-host if you want audio to stay on your hardware and you have CPU to spare. Cloud if you would rather not run a container and want the fleet to absorb the peaks. A cloud subscription entitles you to self-host as well while it is active, and four consecutive paid months unlocks the permanent self-host licence. See editions.
